This is music and poetry to travel with, to visit feeling and vibration, to experience and remember. Some of these tracks are quite a journey, I usually don’t make it through them without a softened heart and a tear or two and I know just what I’m going to say. It is always a little vulnerable to send something so close and real out to the four winds but this is some of the best medicine that I have to offer in this life and it needs to be out there. May it travel far. –Ben Bushill

Revealing and remembering
the simple miracle of presence

Poetry and spoken word

I reach with words. Reach for the unreachable. Try to reveal the miracle that dances just beyond our knowing, the love hidden in plain sight. Words that invite us to gently open the blessed gate of our flawed and wonderful humanity and step through into the remembrance of existence and presence as the one gift. I try and I fail but I hope that sometimes I am able to catch the echo of light and offer it to others who share a longing for love and the great heartbeat of the everything.

Circles, workshops and meetings

Gathering as a group or one to one to dare to ask the questions that have no answer. Allowing the sincere asking to deepen our awareness of life and love and to draw closer to the mystery of existence. There is no right way, no perfect teaching but rather a relaxation into the unique wisdom within us and the simple, staggering truth of our humble and majestic existence on this good earth.

Ceremony

Weddings and funerals where the focus is on a real and simple connection to lives and hearts. Sincere without being too serious, considered without being heavy. A ceremony that is open to everyone who has loved and cried in this life. Acknowledging our shared humanity and our place in the community of all life and taking a stand for love. Honest heartfelt ceremonies for people wanting to step away from a religious service without losing depth and spirit.

Heartwood

Woodwork and building where the natural beauty of the wood is preserved and revealed. From houses and staircases to picture frames and furniture I use home cut local and sustainably sourced timber to build beautiful features in people’s homes. Bringing the grain of the heartwood to the light to weave the imperfect perfection of natures twists and turns into our modern lifestyle, bringing a small part of the forest home.

It’s so damn intimate to be here!

We are all in this together. Woven wildly together into this ever-unfolding work of art. Butterflies and woodlice, sea lions and monkeys, beauty and foolishness, grace and ignorance. We dance through it all and the all dances through us. Life. LIFE. The deepest miracle imaginable hidden perfectly in plain sight. An exquisite journey from one ocean to another. This short poem ponders that heart stopping wonder and asks just how we can possibly carry this knowing and still go about our perfect, flawed, ordinary lives in respect and dignity, loving our earth and loving each other.

“When you lay down your head in the dark remember that that which you are searching for is that of which you are made.

Relax, let go and be the love that you are.

For there is no place else to rest than here.”

The world is full of stories. The rising sun meets a dewdrop in the grass and fills the garden with humble diamonds. The evening’s quiet light reveals the words written in the reaching arms of the darkening trees. As if from nowhere a grief arises that causes even our bones to ache and asks of us those questions to which we have no answer. Let us draw close to the cracks that run inevitably across our thoughts and through our human lives and dare to look a little deeper at the wonders beyond. Not to another world but rather this world revealed and remembered. Not a glimpse of perfection but a love that is wide enough and brave enough to bring the ordinary to the fireside and there in the warm light coax forth the presence at its heart, shy and powerful, good and wise. This very moment. This now of being offering up its secrets to the ones who know how to listen. Let us be the ones who know how to listen.

“The ones who know the stories and songs of the trees and can read the runes of the wind carved on the silver lake. A species that listens before it speaks and loves before it wants.”
